About me
My name is Geneway Tang, and I am striving to represent my country as an Olympian in track cycling. From an early age, my hyperactive tendencies made it challenging to find activities that truly engaged me. Initially, cycling seemed uninteresting because local programs didn't provide the stimulation I needed. However, at my parents' encouragement, I ventured into competitive cycling beyond the afterschool program, and everything changed. The challenge of racing and the pursuit of self-growth captivated me, and I fell in love with the sport.
Today, what drives me is the exhilaration of speed, the relentless pursuit of greatness, and the intensity of high-performance sport. After high school, I relocated to Trexlertown, Pennsylvania, to train at one of the best velodromes in the country. This move opened doors for me to compete internationally and led to me becoming a four-time national champion. I am now part of the USA Cycling National Sprint Program and representing my country at the Pan American and World Championships has been an incredible honor, but my ultimate goal is to compete at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
In addition to my athletic pursuits, I am committed to my education. I have completed an undergraduate degree in computer science and am currently pursuing a master's degree in data analytics. Balancing rigorous training with academic challenges has taught me the importance of discipline and time management, and I am as dedicated to my studies as I am to my sport.
Beyond my personal ambitions, I am passionate about giving back to the community. As a USA Cycling coach, I have worked with children to help them learn the fundamentals of track cycling, volunteering my time at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center and supporting local community programs. It’s important to me to share my knowledge and experiences with the next generation of cyclists, helping them along their own journeys in both life and sport.
